COVID-19 October Update

St. Francis Center (SFC) has officially wrapped up its renovations of the Day Center! Some of the major changes include an expansion of the women’s showers, more shelving in the laundry room, and a new mail and storage counter, information desk and greeter’s station. Additionally, the Intake Office has been expanded, to provide a more conducive space for individual case management with guests.
The most recent free COVID-19 testing for volunteers, guests, and staff took place on September 14. SFC is pleased to report of the 84 people tested, 0 results came back positive for COVID! Another round of testing is scheduled at the Day Center on October 5.

The Denver Rescue Mission has resumed serving meals. As such, SFC is no longer serving lunch to our guests. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who participated in making sack lunches! This effort would not have been possible without the help of those working with the Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen and the Women’s Homeless Initiative.

Members from the Community Resource Center have been coming to the Day Center to offer guests access to voter registration. The on-site voter registration is a good reminder to us all to exercise our right to vote and be heard. SFC encourages all citizens to participate in our democracy by voting in all elections.

Looking for a way to stay connected to the St. Francis Center from afar? Join SFC’s annual gala on October 29! This year’s event will be held virtually. Click here to sign up to attend. More information on the event can be found on the SFC website, including save the date information to share with your own networks. We hope to “see” you there!
SFC continues to rely heavily on its community of supporters to offer its critical services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Whether you support SFC guests by volunteering, donating, or advocating – thank you for making the SFC mission possible!
